CAN anyone explain to me how our local libraries have been able to increase their borrowing charges by such astronomical amounts? As a regular borrower of spoken word CDs, I have been faced with a 33 per cent increase.
I’m aware costs must occasionally rise. However, with inflation currently running around two per cent, I’m horrified the council has been allowed to get away with such a massive hike. I suppose the 12 per cent increase in my council tax wasn’t enough for them? Do you think I could ask my employers for a similar increase to help me pay the extra charges the council are imposing on me?
