IT was with great disappointment that I read the letter from Don Vincent in the Redditch Advertiser regarding Karen Lumley MP attending the Victorian Christmas Craft Fair at Forge Mill Museum.

In his letter, Mr Vincent commented that borough and county councillors did not attend this event.

This is simply not true.

Indeed, I can confirm that while I am not a councillor, I went with my partner, who happens to be both a borough and county councillor, to this event.

We went – and this was not the first year we had done so – to buy locally produced Christmas gifts for friends and family, as well as to support the Forge Mill.

We quickly devoured the liquorice chalks and have been enjoying the locally produced honey which we also bought for ourselves, to name but a few of our purchases.

It is important to note that we went since we wanted to, rather than to be seen supporting an event through obligation – not suggesting this was the case for Mrs Lumley.

I know that my partner Joe Baker attended the event on both the Saturday and Sunday.

I am aware of at least one other borough councillor who also attended the event.

I would urge Mr Vincent to be sure of his facts before he starts to criticise the actions of others.

We very much look forward to the 2014 Victorian Christmas Craft event at Forge Mill, which we intend to visit again as visitors rather than on some official capacity.
