I AM really angry that the Labourled council is ignoring the overview and scrutiny committee’s decision to call in Redditch United Football club to discuss their proposals for relocation and a new stadium.
We requested that the chairman of RUFC attend our committee so that we could openly discuss and scrutinise the plans and reasons behind RBC’s position; following the press coverage, of a rejection from the Redditch Borough Council. This date was set for December 3.
To my astonishment the Labour control announced an emergency meeting on November 26 to make a decision, a week before the O&S meeting was to take place, despite knowing that the overview and scrutiny wanted to look into this, with support from both political groups. As a council we’ve always prided ourselves on our rigor of scrutiny which is all about checks and balances. What controlling group are proposing to do is rush through a decision without full consideration and deliberation of all the facts.
