WELL I think we have now heard all we need to hear from the Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust and their views on the Alexandra Hospital.

This trust should be disbanded forthwith.

A biased Joint Services Review last year, to the detriment of Redditch, followed by delay after delay to any form of decision making to the point of incompetence, a lethargic trust incapable of making any decision on the future of NHS services in Worcestershire and now their impudence to dictate that they will close down services at the Alexandra Hospital by calling in and delegating their responsibilities to the specialist NHS colleges to make their decision for them.

And in addition, without any public consultation. So we now know the plan. Keep delaying decision making until the Alex position reaches a point where it has become irretrievably “unsafe”

without any help or recourse from Worcester Royal Hospital or trust then call in the inspectors. Is this, Karen Lumley, an illegal act?

Where is the Option 2? This proposal was a backstop for University Hospital Birmingham to prevent this from happening and to save the Alexandra Hospital promised by the Redditch MP and Health Minister Poulter after the debate in Westminster Hall.

But despite repeated promises by Dr J Wells and the CCGs who are committed to represent Redditch nothing has happened, Why?

After all the rhetoric by these organisation, all of whom have gone silent on the subject and are nowhere to be seen or heard, where is your voice?

Unfortunately the centralisation of hospital services throughout the country is a Government policy. So where, Karen Lumley, do we go from here?

In the meantime Redditch health services hang from a thread with no safety net.
