I WISH to publicly record my admiration for – and thanks – to the staff of the Alexandra Hospital.

I was rushed in to the hospital as an emergency on September 28, finally being discharged on October 9. During my time in hospital, I was cared for in MAU, and later in cardiac ward 6.

Words cannot fully express my gratitude for the excellent medical care I received, together with the compassion, friendliness and professionalism shown by doctors, nursing staff, healthcare assistants, catering staff and domestic staff.

We are blessed indeed to have such a wonderful facility in our town. Ambulance staff got me to the hospital very quickly and I can’t help but wonder how anyone could think it sensible to take away the marvellous A&E service.

During my stay, I had to be transported to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for an angiogram, and while the treatment I received was also excellent, I couldn’t help but wonder how much easier it would have been for everyone if everything could have been undertaken at the Alex.

Please, everyone, sign up to the Save the Alex Campaign. I had already done so months ago, but my recent experience has prompted me to urge anyone who hasn’t yet done so, to support your local, excellent hospital.
