THE purpose of the club is to provide regular opportunities for retired professionals and businessmen to meet socially and share common interests.
These opportunities are created by offering a variety of weekly and monthly leisure activities which focus on social comradeship and friendly involvement.
Weekly activities include bowls, in summer, snooker and golf. Monthly activities include walks, computer sessions and a pub lunch to which partners are invited.
In 2012, members and partners, in addition to the monthly lunch, have enjoyed a river trip at Stratford, a skittles evening and a strawberry tea.
A Christmas lunch is planned for early December.
A members’ meeting is held at the Avoncroft Arts Centre on the third Wednesday of each month from 10am-noon.
The agenda consists of reports from the various activity groups, a refreshment break to enable members to chat with colleagues and an entertaining talk presented by a guest speaker.
Previous talks have included wine making in Worcestershire and exploding the myth that forgetfulness is a monopoly of the senior age group.
Future talks include 50 interesting facts on steam engines and the history of Robert Wiseman Dairies. Are you semi-retired, retired or planning to retire in the near future and wondering what you will do with your time when the gardening, decorating and all the odd jobs have been completed?
Well, why not consider joining us at the club.
If you feel you would like to try before you buy, come along to a meeting, meet the members and see why the Bromsgrove (1982) Probus Group could be for you. For more details, see bromsgroveprobus.co.uk or call Richard on 07725 242012.
