THE Redditch Society held the second talk of the new season on Friday, October 5, when the subject was Birds of Upton Warren.
The talk, with the aid of beautiful slides, was given by Gordon Forrest, a wildlife photographer and member of the Worcestershire Wildlife Association.
The photographs we viewed were unsurpassed in their detail and captured the many antics of the birds, some of them even sun-bathing – weather permitting of course. The lakes and salt marshes of the Upton Warren Reserve were shown in all their glory throughout the four seasons of the year and provide holiday homes for the birds from all over Europe and further afield.
The Upton Warren Reserve, just outside Bromsgrove on the A38 is open to non-members and would be a delightful day out for all members of the family.
The next talk of the society will be on Edward Elgar, his wife Alice and their daughter Carice and will be given by Wendy Hill of the Elgar Museum. The evening starts at 7.30pm at Trinity High School on Friday, October 19.
