Alvechurch WI

This summer seems to be flying past so quickly. It's hard to think we've already held our September meeting. Julie, our president, welcomed members and our speaker Colin Millet with his wife Frances. Julie then congratulated those who were celebrating birthdays, especially Margaret Guy and her husband who have reached their diamond anniversary.

There are several choices of events to go to in the coming months, such as a Group meeting at Wythall; the Annual Council Meeting at Malvern and our Craft Evenings with Hillside on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the Village Hall.

We have our own evening with 'Blind Dave' on October 25th, as advertised in the Grapevine, plus the Worcs. Christmas Outing to Waddesdon Manor on November 30th when hopefully, the coach will leave from Alvechurch.

Our speaker was one of the best we have had. An ex teacher, Colin held our interest throughout on the subject of Worcester Porcelain and its history. He gave a very good power point presentation alongside showing examples of certain pieces of porcelain, some of which he let us handle!! He and his wife Frances are also promoting the Worcester Porcelain Museum by the sale of their book and they encouraged us to visit.

Lillian Willis gave the vote of thanks and members then enjoyed socialising.

If you want to join in and enjoy yourself, come and join us on Monday October 9th at 7:30pm in Alvechurch Village Hall.
