Beoley WI

At the February meeting, we were given a fascinating insight into life in Birmingham's back to backs, only one court of which now remain, conserved by the National Trust. This took the form of recordings of residents talking, which Helen Lloyd had collected during her career with the BBC.

Appropriate care for dementia sufferers is this year's WI resolution, voted for overwhelmingly. Members ordered copies of the group photograph taken at the Christmas Party. There will be a talk on the Suffragettes at the Weatheroak Group Meeting on March 9. Hopwood WI is holding a table top sale and coffee morning on Saturday, February 23, from 10-2pm. Sadly Sassy, the South African rescue lion supported by members, has died, after a long life. The competition, for old kitchen equipment, was won by Nicky Shaw, with a mincer.

The next meeting, on March 1 at 7.30pm in Beoley Village Hall, is our birthday tea, with Music Hall entertainment by Dentith and Price. The competition is for a garter.
