Beoley WI
The Christmas Party began in festively decorated Beoley Village Hall with a group photograph being taken by WI husband Keith Watkins. After fruit punch, there was an enjoyable three-course dinner served by Sue Dalby Catering Limited. Then we time-travelled back to the Victorian era, where two appropriately dressed ladies told us much about how Christmas was being celebrated there. The competition was for a Victorian object and that was won by Steph Wiles with a teacup and saucer. Two days later, we went on our Christmas trip to the Victorian Gothic Revival Hall at beautiful Abbey-Cwm- Hir. After an enjoyable lunch, we went round all 52 rooms of this family home, some of which contain fine original features, and each of which is decorated to a theme, including trains, castles, the 1930's, shcooldays, the seaside, the Arthurian Legend, and others.
The next meeting is on January 5, at 7.30 pm at Beoley Village Hall, when we shall be entertained by magic! The competition is for an unusual pack of cards. New members are welcome.
