AFTER the successful events of the summer and the encouraging outcome of the club’s first ever fun run in aid of men’s cancer, where the proceeds were split evenly between the Rory the Robot scheme at the Alexandra Hospital, and the UK Prostate Cancer charity, plans are under way for Autumn and Christmas.

Ever since Children in Need was introduced in November 1980, when Terry Wogan’s first telethon took place, Redditch Lions have collected from the people of Redditch and surrounding areas. To date, some £50k-£60k has been raised and club members will not stop there.

With the full support of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre management, in spite of the rebuilding they are doing, teams of Lions will be on site to meet people and greet familiar faces who have supported our endeavours over the previous years on November 14.

Christmas is a very important time for the club, as it is the time when we rely on the local community to donate to our Welfare projects fund in order to redistribute every single penny donated, back to those who need some help. Nothing from these collections is used to support running the club, that comes from members themselves.

This year, the three main supermarkets are supporting us by letting us collect over nine days. Manning these days requires quite a juggle of people’s times, so anyone wishing to help, they would be more than welcome. Just phone us on 0845 833 5914 or through our website redditchlions.
