THE May coffee morning was full of information from various statutory bodies including councils and the NHS.

Our speaker was Pat Witherspoon who related her experiences as a school welfare officer many years ago.

There were lots of amusing excuses given as to why our Johnny had not been in school this week and about a job which no longer exists in the same format.

The summer outing will be to the Black Country Museum and so far we have 27 names on the list - still room for more. If anyone wishes to join us we will depart from Church Green West at 9.30am on Thursday, June 12, back in Redditch at 5-5.30 p.m. The cost is £18 to include coach and entrance fee. Contact Lorna White on 01527 522030 if you would like to come.

You must be over 55 to qualify.

Our annual meeting was held on May 15 and followed the usual agenda. The chairman reported on a good year and thanked the committee and members for their constant help and support. The treasurer presented immaculate accounts which showed a healthy financial position.

The committee were re-elected en block and will soldier on for another year.

Unfortunately, our speaker failed to turn up so we finished a little earlier than usual, in plenty of time for lunch.
