THE end of 2013 was very busy for the choir, as usual in the runup to Christmas.

The Christmas concert early in December was great fun and attracted a large audience in the Spadesbourne suite.

The children from Astwood Bank First School again came along as special guests and not only did they charm the audience but also demonstrated remarkable musical ability.

They go from strength to strength under the guidance of Joe George, their music teacher.

This time they even produced two soloists about 10-years-old, who started off the whole concert.

The choir’s Christmas season did not finish until December 22 so members were looking forward to a good rest after Christmas.

This was not to be, however, and they were straight back into performing on January 18 with a late Christmas celebration for a local Women’s Institute.

The Primrose Choir is fast approaching the end of their 14th year. In that time they have raised £150,000 for the Primrose Hospice Centre of Care.

The choir’s success is largely due to the hard work of their founder and musical director, Kay Hadley.

Under her direction the choir has grown far beyond what she could have dreamed of when she started it in 2000.

The choir’s public concerts this year are the Summertime concert on June 20, the Primrose Proms on October 10 and the Christmas concert on December 12.
