MEMBERS celebrated Christmas with an evening meal at Redditch Golf Club and our November club meeting incorporated a demonstration of Christmas flower arranging.

We have been very affected by the death in October of member Georgina Hunt, who was so respected within the organisation as she had served as district chairman and member of council, plus many club offices during her lifetime, and she is greatly missed.

As well as supporting home charities, more than £900 was raised at a coffee morning in November in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance.

We also raise funds and in this case, collect items, for an overseas charity each year. This year it is Sandra’s Baby Clothes Appeal and the organiser, Elizabeth Tatman MBE, came to speak about her work .

The charity collects baby clothes, used and new, small toys, baby blankets and clothes and toiletries for mothers and babies in need in Romania.

They are also raising funds to train staff in hospitals in Bucharest. There is such a need that they are spreading out to other towns and into Kosovo, Ukraine, Croatia and Moldavia. The items are distributed by Rotarians and friends. A knit and natter is the next item in the overseas calendar.
