THE talk to the Redditch Society on Friday, October 18 was given by Eugene Schellenburg, the subject being The Ilfakara Bakery Project in Tanzania.

The enthusiasm and dedication to this unique project was obvious to all who attended. One could say that it all came about following a visit by Eugene and his wife, Margaret, to their son and his family in Tanzania in 2001, where they were approached by the Sisters of St Francis to help them set up a bakery to feed the many people who were badly affected by the African weather which hugely influences the harvests.

It is a very worthwhile project, headed and instigated by two dedicated people and which over the years, has gone from strength to strength.

Our next talk will be on Friday, November1, at Trinity High School, Grove Street, Redditch, and is entitled Fingerprints for Detection and Intrigue and will be given by Susan Clegg, ex-director of the Fingerprint Bureau.

All are welcome. Non-members £3, payable at the door.

The talk will commence at 7.30pm prompt.
