THE club has been involved, under the new presidency of Surinder Bansal, in a variety of activities, and later this month will partly host a group study exchange team from the Caribbean, who are on a four-week visit to this Rotary district covering the Midlands – the Heart of England.

The group study exchange is an educational programme, sponsored by Rotary International, in order to facilitate young people between the ages of 25 and 40 to visit other parts of the world, so as to observe their own vocation, as practiced abroad.
The team, comprising three women and one man, is led by a senior Rotarian, Ann Marie Rodgers, who is from Trinidad and Tobago, and who has held a variety of posts in her club.

The other team members are Gillian Baksh from Trinidad and Tobago who works for a construction and fibreglass manufacturing company; Akilal Le Andre Thorington from Barbados where she works as a business development associate; Lavorne Verdant from St Lucia who is an actuarial scientist consulting to various organisations on the island; and the male member of the team, Marc E C Frost from Suriname, where he works for the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Rotary Club of Redditch Kingfisher will be hosting the team, for a few days from October 23, after Coventry and Birmingham have entertained them.
They will also attend the district conference in Cardiff at the end of the month, and after some other visits in the region, they will head home on November 3.
