A MINDLESS vandal went on a ‘spray paint rampage’, targeting vehicles and even a cashpoint in Barbourne in the early hours of the morning.

In total seven vehicles were sprayed with the silver and grey paint in the overnight vandalism spree in St George’s Walk and St George’s Lane North.

Shocked staff from the Myriad Centre first alerted the police after discovering the paint just before 7am on Thursday, June 21.

Two vans used to carry wheelchairs had squiggling lines, marks, and graffiti of an obscene image was sprayed on them.

A WR4 tag was also sprayed on walls and a bus shelter.

The charity, which supports people with learning disabilities, has previously had to replace a stolen minibus costing thousands.

Simon Quigley said: “It was a mindless idiot, who has obviously gone down the street spraying until their paint has run out.

“But it is the inconvenience they put an organisation through like ourselves. They have no idea of the consequences - it could cost us thousands. We are a service that go to people’s homes and they put an obscenity on the side of the vehicle. They are vulnerable people, with complex needs, and we turn up at the house with this on the side.

“It is disgusting.”

Vehicles in the area that were sprayed included a Renault Clio, Hyundai Tucson, a Fiat 500 and a Volkswagen Polo.

Sainsbury’s Local, on Barbourne Road, was also targeted with paint sprayed across its cash point. Staff told the Worcester News they were looking at CCTV and would be handing this to officers, but could not comment further.

Inspector Tanya Beckett from West Mercia Police said: “Sadly someone has gone on a rampage with spray paint. It is criminal damage. Our team has been investigating this, looking at CCTV, and will be leafleting people in the area.”

She added the WR4 tag would be looked at, as part of their enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting 700S.
