MAYOR of Worcester, Cllr Jabba Riaz, will be joined by military personnel and fellow councillors to observe the raising of the Armed Forces Day flag over the Guildhall.

Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday June 30 but the celebrations begin on Monday when the armed forces day flag will be raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the UK.

“Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community,” said Cllr Riaz.

“We are raising the flag over the Guildhall as a sign of thanks and respect to all those who put themselves in the frontline in order to protect our freedom and way of life.”

Present at the flag raising will be representatives from the 214 (Worcestershire) Battery; the Mercian Regiment; City of Worcester Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets and Sea Cadets.

The 214 Battery will bring a L118 Light Gun and Pinz, which will be on display in the Courtyard.
