I have learned with some dismay that Dodderhill Parish council are charging Wychbold Football Club the sum of £3300 per season to use the the playing field. Most parish councils in the area charge £200 - £400 for the same facilities.

The council consists of 8 members 4 of which are co-opted (unelected) and most are relatively new to Wychbold. My sympathies are with the many outstanding past and present managers including the late Vic Brown, Martin Winwood and currently Darren Maycroft. These people worked tirelessly to make sure that sport and especially football was available to any interested youngster and they receive no reward. I also include the many young participants who are unable to meet these charges and are looking to use the facilities of other councils.

The sum of £3300 per season is nothing more than an outrage, and if I were a council member, I would hang my head in shame. Especially when the clerk to the council gets approximately £14,000 per annum for a few hours work per month ( paid for by the taxpayer).
