ON December 3, pupils from Abbeywood First School attended their first graduation.
Abbeywood was the first school in Worcestershire to become a ‘Children’s University’. This promotes learning outside of school hours and celebrates the value of extra-curricular activities.
This can include activities run at school such as clubs but also extends into the community where the learning and commitment to groups such as cubs, swimming or even attending local validated museums and attractions is recognised as part of the children’s learning journey and contributes to their life experience.
Children collect stamps on a passport for each activity and work towards gaining their bronze, silver or gold award.
As a pilot school for the project, any child in their first year who achieved 30 hours (bronze award) would graduate at the University of Worcester.
