A TEAM of 12 Redditch cyclists endured a four day, 300 mile challenge, to raise money for their local chemotherapy unit.

The men raised a total of £5,656.15 for the garden suite at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, by cycling from Redditch to Paris.

Rider James Harley said: “We chose to raise money for the garden suite as one of our team's fathers is currently being treated there, as have relatives and friends of the other riders in the past.

"Patients on the suite have nothing but the highest praise for the welcome, medical care and positive encouragement they receive on each of their visits. The nurses and doctors really are some of the unsung heroes in our world and we are proud to have supported them."

Unit manager Sam Leonard said “It’s amazing what these guys have done. To take on such a challenge is incredible. Well done to them all for completing it.

"This donation will make a great impact on the experience patients have on our unit.”
