EVESHAM cycling fans lined the streets to see the OVO Energy Women's Tour.

Crowds saw off the 96 competitors in the fourth stage of the Women’s Tour from its start in Evesham and roared them home to the finish line in Worcester.

Hosted by Wychavon District Council and Worcester City Council whilst being supported by Worcestershire County Council, the 81 mile stage set off from Vine Street at 10:30am on Saturday.

Cyclists then headed onto the A44 towards Pershore before travelling to Broadway, Droitwich and finishing in Worcester.

There was fun for all the family at the stage site including street performances from the likes of ‘Treemendous’ and the ‘Hedgemen.'

Race leader Coryn Rivera of Team Sunweb said: “This is one of the best women’s races in the world. The crowds have been great, it’s been amazing on the weekdays to hear all the schoolkids yelling as we go by. It’s an honour to be the leader of this race.”

Danish former world champion Amalie Dideriksen said: “It was a pretty technical finish - there were lots of islands and there was a long u-turn then a left hand turn, so we wanted to be in first and second coming round there and I just started my sprint when we got closer. I’m really happy with the win.”

British rider Dani Rowe was in third but slipped by a couple of seconds to 22 off the leader. She had to be treated by medics after the race finished having come down in a nasty-looking crash on London Road as the bunch sped into the city centre.

While she remained in the blue Adnams Best British rider jersey, it was presented to her Waowdeals team-mate Vos on the podium to accept on Rowe’s behalf as she received medical attention.
