TIME-strapped Bromsgrove parents can keep fit while never having to leave their baby’s side, thanks to a quirky new fitness class.

Bromsgrove mum Claire Cross will run her ‘Buggy Beat’ sessions in different parks and open spaces across the town.

The 45-minute group sessions enable participants to keep fit while bringing their baby along in a pushchair.

Sessions include cardio, strength, and flexibility training, and are inclusive for all to join - be it mums, dads, grandparents, siblings or guardians.

Claire, 38, who is mum to three-year-old Ivy and 19-month-old Seth, said: “While I was on maternity leave I found it impossible to work out as I didn’t feel I could ask someone to look after the children while I went out to exercise.

"Exercising after they went to bed was a struggle as by that time I found I was exhausted. I would have loved a class like this to go to where you can simply strap the baby in a buggy and get out in the fresh air while meeting other mums and dads.”

Buggy Beat was initially launched by Rachel Holmes as a way of keeping fit without the need of expensive childcare.

Claire, who is a fitness business owner with more than 15 years experience, is one oft he UK’s first Buggy Beat instructors.

She added: “There are lots of baby classes in Bromsgrove but they are all for the baby really. There’s not many where the parents get to work out and have a cuppa and a chat after.”

Thursday sessions begin on June 14 at 10am and Friday sessions will also be launched.
