A POPULAR Italian restaurant is set to close down in the city.
Carluccio's in Chapel Walk, Worcester will shut down, with the closure likely to be by the end of the year.
The business was given approval for a restructuring programme in May, meaning several restaurants were likely to close.
It has now been confirmed that Worcester is amongst those closing, after opening in the city in 2012.
It is thought that about 30 stores could eventually close as part of the process.
Carluccio’s said it was relocating staff to remaining outlets where possible and would try to keep job losses at a minimum.
A spokesman for Carluccio’s said: “Following the announcement that Carluccio’s has entered a CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement), it is confirmed that the Worcester restaurant will close.
"This is due to rising business costs and unsustainable rental levels and in no way reflects the passion and commitment displayed by our team. "We thank them for their hard work along with all our loyal customers who have supported their local Carluccio’s.
“We’re in current dialogue with the landlords regarding a timetable and will make further announcements on closures when practicable.”
