A KIDDERMINSTER woman is to use her musical hobby to hit the right notes and raise funds for a children’s charity.

Trombonist Sandra Hill has organised a full symphonic wind band concert, which will take place at Kidderminster Trinity Methodist Church on Friday, March 23 in aid of Barnardo’s, for whom she is a dedicated fundraiser.

Mrs Hill, who is Forest School leader at Bodenham Arboretum, has been a member of Bromyard Wind Band since she was 13 and was delighted when they agreed to support her fundraising efforts.

The band is something of a family affair for the 45-year-old as her husband Marcus plays the clarinet, 14-year-old son Joe – who goes to Baxter College – plays the cornet while her father Bob plays the tuba.

The concert is the latest fundraising initiative from Mrs Hill. She recently organised a 10km fun run around the grounds of Bodenham Arboretum which attracted just under 100 runners and raised £688 in total for Barnardos.

She is also in training for the London Marathon in April where one again her fundraising efforts will be for Barnardos. Her training so far has included her first half marathon in Tallin, Estonia which she ran last September.

Mrs Hill said: “I’m delighted my fellow band members have agreed to perform in Kidderminster in support of this very worthwhile charity – it means a great deal to me.

“We promise an absolutely fabulous night for anyone who may be interested in supporting us on the night - our repertoire includes pieces from Les Miserables, The Lion King and Jersey Boys.”

The show will start at 7.45pm and tickets are priced £6.50 for adults, £3.50 for under-16s and are available from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/Barnardo or John Beard, Tools and Ironmongery, 11 Bridge St, Kidderminster.
