A GREEN-FINGERED group in Stourbridge is inviting more members to join them to help the town make the most of Mary Stevens Park.

Growing Together Mary Stevens Park was founded in 2016 and the group has cultivated a popular community garden in the park which it is looking to expand.

Members of the group grow their own fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers in the community garden, as well as sharing gardening knowledge with each other.

Growing Together is currently in the middle of a ‘Glass Garden’ project where it is creating a mixed bed of ornamental and edible plants.

The group meets every Friday in term time from 11am-12.30pm, with people of all ages and gardening abilities welcome.

The community garden is located through the yew hedge via the park’s Coffee Lounge Rose Gardens and is also accessible via the Norton Road/South Road side entrance.

Anyone interested in getting involved can call Deborah Merrick, senior heritage park ranger, on 07773 078427, or message her via Facebook at ‘Mary Stevens Park Heritage and Health’.

The group would also appreciate any donations of time from volunteers plus unwanted gardening tools and equipment.
