DUDLEY wrestling sensation Tyler Bate took another huge step towards becoming a top WWE star this week - by winning his second title belt.

Bate and partner Trent Seven – known as Moustache Mountain due in part to their distinguishable facial hair – claimed tag team glory at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The duo beat the ‘Undisputed Era’ pairing of Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly to lift the NXT tag team titles and raise the roof in front of a sell-out crowd.

NXT is regarded as the chief developmental division of WWE, with its top wrestlers cherry-picked to join the globally-televised Raw and Smackdown brands featuring the likes of John Cena and AJ Styles.

The tag title victory is thus further progression for 21-year-old Bate, who was crowned WWE’s first UK champion after winning a gruelling tournament in Blackpool last year before losing the strap to Pete Dunne.

Dunne played a part in Bate’s tag title win – he teamed with the Netherton man and Wolverhampton native Seven the previous night.

And the trio’s victory over the three some of Strong, O’Reilly and Adam Cole – all NXT standout stars – earned former Ormiston Forge Academy pupil Bate and teammate Seven a title shot the following night.
