A NEW Post Office in Kinver that will serve residents seven days a week has been officially opened by the village’s MP.

Gavin Williamson CBE, MP for South Staffordshire, cut the ribbon at the reopened Post Office at the Midcounties Co-op on Kinver High Street, just over the road from its previous location.

The Post Office is open from 7am-10pm every day of the week, equating to 105 hours each week, almost tripling the amount of its previous opening hours.

The previous Post Office closed in June 2017 following the resignation of the postmaster and withdrawal of premises for Post office use.

Mr Williamson said: “It is great news that Kinver Post Office has re-opened in the heart of the community, opposite the previous branch.

“I really want to thank The Midcounties Co-operative for taking on the branch and for it being open much longer hours than before.

“The hilly terrain had made it tricky for people without cars to get to the nearest alternative branch when Kinver Post Office was closed.”

Kinver Post Office is a new-style local branch where Post Office services are available from an open-plan till at the shop counter throughout the store’s opening hours.

Clare Downs, head of commercial partnerships at The Midcounties Co-operative said: “As a community retailer, we are delighted to be welcoming Post Office customers to our store. Adding Post Office services is of great benefit to the local community.”

Michael Brennan, Post Office senior partner relationship manager, added: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
