FOOTBALL fans in Stourbridge have been left sweating on whether they will be able to watch England's opening World Cup game tonight - after a power cut hit the area.

Hundreds of people have been without electricity today (June 18) after a power cut hit properties not far from the town centre.

The power cut, believed to be caused by a faulty underground cable, has affected 154 properties just off Birmingham Street, the main road between Stourbridge town centre and Lye.

Pebble Close, Bedcote Place, Sandyacre Way and Stepping Stones are among the streets where houses are without power.

The cut was first reported at 10.10am and updates on suppliers Western Power's website said they hope to have the issue resolved by 4pm.

Football fans in the area will hope the problem is sorted by this evening - as England kick off their World Cup campaign at 7pm against Tunisia, live on the BBC.

UPDATE: Western Power have confirmed that power has been restored to all properties concerned as of 4pm today (Monday, June 18).
