A PROMINENT local councillor, who was inspired by his great uncle’s battle at war, has had his second book published.
Adrian Gregson, deputy leader at Worcester City Council, grew up on the Lancashire coast and now lives in Worcester, working for the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service at The Hive.
The origins of his latest book, From Docks and Sand, lie in conversations he had with his grandmother, about her brother who was killed on April 9, 1918 at Givenchy in the battle of the Lys, northern France.
“My great uncle wrote home a few days before he was killed, telling his father of his impending leave which of course was cancelled,” Mr Gregson said.
Mr Gregson used highlights from research he carried out for a PhD, awarded in 2006 by University of Worcester, to inform his book.
From Docks and Sand has recently been published by Helion.
