A "DANGEROUS" derelict bridge in Alvechurch is set to be dismantled following concerns over children playing on it.
PCSO Mark Ryder from Alvechurch and Wythall Safer Neighbourhood Team visited the bridge on Friday, July 6, following concerns over children's safety.
The disused canal bridge, located by the intersection at the rear of Heron Close, is set to be dismantled this week to prevent further misuse.
He said: "Work to dismantle the derelict bridge is due to start.
"Parents, please do all you can to educate your children with regards to the potential dangers involved.
"Please contact police if you see anyone playing on the bridge."
He added: "Please don't be tempted to cool down in rivers or canals.
"Hidden dangers hide beneath the surface and whilst it may look warm enough, it can be shockingly cold."
