TWO people from Rubery have been charged with burglary after a ram raid in Acocks Green.

A van was driven into the front of a mobile phone shop on Warwick Road, at around 3.30am yesterday (Saturday, June 23), before it was driven off and abandoned on the Stratford Road.

The occupant was seen to get into the Audi, which drove off towards the city centre.

A pursuit, involving traffic officers and the police helicopter brought the car - which was being driven recklessly and with no lights - to a stop on Hagley Road West using a stinger.

The van was subsequently found to be stolen and the Audi was on false plates.

Christopher Clift, aged 41, and 31-year-old Sally Hateley, both from Rednal Mill Drive, were arrested and later charged with burglary and motoring offences.

Clift was charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance. Hateley was charged with dangerous driving and also without insurance.

They will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, June 25).
