THE 2017 edition of popular history magazine The Bromsgrove Rousler has been published by the Bromsgrove Society.

Under its new editor Mike Sharpe, this year's edition - number 32 in the series - has experienced several changes, most notably being published in full colour for the first time.

"We felt it was time to give the Rousler an exciting new look," said Mike. "Using colour throughout allows us to make the most of the fascinating images provided by our authors to accompany their contributions."

"Regular readers will notice some changes but inside they’ll find the same familiar mix of contributions covering many aspects of Bromsgrove's history."

This year's issue, which features a number 70 tram on the front cover, delves into the historic tram route inside, which used to run from Birmingham to Rednal, with other articles on renowned poet Sir Geoffrey Hill, who died last year, the Poor Law during the 18th century, and the Dipple family.

Mike thanked former editor Jenny Townshend for more than 20 years of work on the magazine, adding: "All of us in the Bromsgrove Society, and I’m sure Rousler readers everywhere, would like to thank Jenny for her tremendous contribution and wish her well for the future."

The new all-colour edition of The Bromsgrove Rousler is available, at a price of £2.95, from local outlets in the high street, as well as Spar in Catshill and Sidemoor, Polly Put The Kettle on in Rubery, It's a Gift in Barnt Green and most local garden centres.
