A CHARITY will celebrate its 20th year at an open day.

Sanctuaries Open Day on Sunday September 3 will celebrate animal welfare at the open day with over 500 animals including sheep, pigs, ponies, horses, alpacas, geese, chickens, goats and some newly arrived jersey dairy calves as well as Matilda the Turkey, who is likely to be a family favourite.

Throughout the day there will be informative fun for all the family, stalls and refreshments as well as an opportunity to get close up and have a photograph taken with Matilda.

Gates will be open from 1pm until 5pm at The Farm Animal Sanctuary at Manor Orchard Farm in School Lane, Middle Littleton.

At 2.30pm there will be the official opening of the new barn built following an appeal last year by patron Joanna Lumley.

At 3pm local alpaca stud company 'Simply Alpaca' will give an introduction to the creatures and at 4pm the grand raffle will take place.

During the day families will be able to bottle feed lambs, learn about wool and spinning and see sheep shearing along with craft stalls, a gift stall and refreshment stalls.

The event is undercover, so come rain or shine visitors are welcome.
