A MAN was flown to hospital after he was found with serious injuries on the side of a road.

Gloucestershire Constabulary was called to Cidermill Lane, Chipping Campden, near St James' Church, at about 12.20am today.

Officers attended the scene and closed off Station Road, following a report from a member of the public.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance said that the man, who is in his mid-30s, was injured in a crash involving a pedestrian and a car.

An air ambulance took the patient to Southmead Hospital, in Bristol, where he has been sedated and is in a serious but stable condition.

A 75-year-old resident, who lives in High Street, Chipping Campden, said: "This is not common in Chipping Campden.

"People are shocked. People want to find out what happened to him.

"A friend of mine's son was walking past there around that time and the paramedics were working on him then and he was losing a lot of blood."

South Western Ambulance Service sent two air ambulance crews and a pair of double-crewed ambulances to the scene, after receiving a call at 12.22am today.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said they did not have any information about the patient's injuries.

One of the air ambulance crews travelled to the scene in a car, according to Wiltshire Air Ambulance service.

Police are investigating the incident and officers were still at the scene when the Cotswold Journal went to press.
