COME down to Forge Mill Museum this summer to enjoy an unforgettable swashbuckling experience for the whole family.
Visitors can enjoy the museum’s latest exhibition - Pirates Fact or Fiction - from now until September 3.
The exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through the Golden Age of Pirates, with some fascinating facts about their ships and the lives of these popular rogues.
The exhibition will also feature costumes from TV and film as well as historical reproductions.
Throughout the exhibition there will also be a treasure hunt trail around their grounds for budding bounty hunters to try and find Bordesley Bill’s loot.
As well as the exhibition, on the weekend of the July 29 and 30 there is a special pirate weekend with the chance to meet pirate crew, the River Rogues.
There will be a puppet show for the whole family to keep the shipmates entertained as well as sailor knot and rope work demonstrations, shanty singing and a blacksmithing demonstration.
This event runs from 11am – 4pm.
Councillor Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said: “The school holidays can seem like a very long time when you’re trying to fill every day with something fun.
"So why not bring your children down to enjoy some pirate adventures. Excite their imaginations with treasure, swashbuckling sword fights and plenty of fun."
