A WOMAN has warned others to be on their guard after her phone was snatched out of her hand by a man on a bike.

Mechelle Sherriff was on the phone outside The Bridge pub in Rainbow Hill when a man cycing past took the phone out of her hand at 7.20pm on Thursday (July 20).

She said: “Please warn Worcester people, I had my phone stolen tonight and the police have said there are a group of young males committing offences around town.

“He snatched it out of my hand while I was on the phone to my mum. He was on a mountain bike.”

Miss Sherriff believes the man cut through to the Arboretum along the canal where the old Royal Mail sorting office used to be.

Miss Sherriff said she was upset at the loss of irreplaceable pictures of her four-year-old daughter Lillie, from when she was born, which were only kept on the phone.

She said: “I have pictures from when she was born on there that can’t be replaced.”

West Mercia Police confirmed they were investigating the incident but would not confirm if they were linking the crime to any other offences.

A police spokesman said: “On the 20th July, police were called to the Rainbow Hill area of Worcester to reports of a robbery in the area.

“Investigations are currently ongoing.”
