A TEAM of nurses will be donning supersonic costumes for a 5km walk or run.

Seven nurses from the In-patient Unit - as well as the IPU co-ordinator at St Richard’s Hospice are aiming to raise more than £500 for the hospice.

Team members include Valda Sikorski, Becky Harding, Sheila Keeble Searle, Donna Powell, Jo White, Katie Chambers, Helen Fletcher and Shelly Lewis, who have clocked up 60 years of nursing care at the hospice between them.

Team leader and healthcare assistant Mrs Sikorski said: "We really are passionate about our jobs at the hospice and know, from first-hand experience, just how valuable hospice care is to the local community.

"We depend largely on charitable donations and where better for charity to begin but at home.

"We look forward to a super superhero day.”

Mrs Sikorski has previously ran the London Marathon, raising more than £3500 and Mrs Fletcher finished in the top 50 during the latest Cheltenham 10k.

The Saturday June 17 challenge will include a giant inflatable obstacle course, a foam bath, bouncy tunnels, giant hammers, UV bubble pods and a Big Bertha Drop Slide to finish.

Mrs Harding will be joined on the day by her children, Bethany Harding, 14, and Mia Harding, ten.

As a team, the nurses have taken part in other challenges including the Midnight Walk and the Rainbow Run in 2015.

Rachel Jones, fundraising manager at St Richard’s Hospice said: “We are thrilled that a team of our dedicated nurses have decided to take the plunge and join the 600 people who have already signed up for the day.

"Our nurses here at St Richard’s provide first class care to our patients."

Taking place at the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus in Holt, Worcester, organisers are encouraging people to bring along a photo of their real life ‘hero’ to share in the superhero gallery.
