LUDLOW MP Philip Dunne has praised to work of the Royal Family and wished the Queen a happy 91st birthday.

Philip Dunne has praised the important work by the Royal Family throughout the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, on the Queen’s 91st birthday.

“Her Majesty celebrated her 91st birthday on Friday, April 21,” said Philip Dunne.

“Gun salutes in central London at midday marked her birthday, but otherwise Her Majesty will spend the day privately with her family. Public celebrations will take place on the Queen’s official birthday in June, with the Sovereign’s Birthday Parade, otherwise known as Trooping the Colour.

The MP, who is close to the Royal Family, praised the Queen’s unifying presence across the UK, and the work of younger members of the Royal Family to highlight important issues.

“I am sure everyone in South Shropshire will wish Her Majesty the very best on her 91st birthday. During her 65-year reign, the Queen has been a remarkable unifying figure for the whole UK, during challenging times,” added Philip Dunne.

“For those of us who value the monarchy’s national and constitutional importance, it is heartening to see younger members of the Royal Family maintain its contemporary relevance.

“Both young princes made important interventions last week.

"Prince Harry spoke about the impact on his mental health of bottling up the grief he felt as a 12-year-old boy following the sudden death of his mother - which will help others seek help when they need it.

"Sir Simon Wessely, the President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, whom and I know and respect, reflected that Prince Harry’s interview had achieved more good in 25 minutes than he had in 25 years.

“Similarly, Prince William this week spoke about his exposure to suicide as an air ambulance pilot.

“Suicide is the most common cause of death for men under 45 in this country, so the prince’s message that our British ‘stiff upper lip’ attitude should not come at the expense of our health is both timely and important.”
