A FAMOUS actor joined staff at a local charity to present awards.

Tom Watt, best known for his role as Lofty Holloway in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, was on hand to give awards to volunteers and staff at Mentor Link.

St Andrews Town Hotel in Droitwich Spa hosted a tea party to celebrate the awards being given out.

CEO Andrea Maddocks MBE said: “A big thank you to Tom for taking time out of his busy schedule to present the awards to staff and volunteers, we really appreciate his support.

"Also a big thank you to our volunteer mentors and staff for their dedication and commitment to the service provided to the children and young people.”

The charity works in Evesham providing one to one support to distressed children, recruiting volunteer mentors to provide the support.

The volunteers given awards had a total of 119 years’ service and the staff had 74 years experience between them.

They were awarded long service certificates and treated to an afternoon tea.
