A SCOUT group which has had over 2000 members is hosting a reunion ball to celebrate its anniversary.

The fifth Worcester Sea Scout Group is celebrating its platinum anniversary in style at the Guildhall by hosting a black tie and gown ball.

The Guildhall can hold 200 people, and group scout leader Robert Sidley hopes that the scouts will be able to come to fill it up.

Mr Sidley said: "I hope that many of the older members will be able to come to help us celebrate our anniversary.

"People will be able to share their experiences and we should have a good mix of old and young.

"We still have people in their 60s who have been here 30 years so it will be nice for them to see people they have perhaps lost contact with.

"They will also be able to see how things have changed.

"We already know a couple from the 40s who are coming but we hope some from the 50s and 60s will be along as there must be some still close-by.

"This ball gives us the opportunity to say thank you to these volunteers past and present and come together in great style.

"It is a good way to finish our anniversary year with a bang."

The 70th anniversary ball takes place on Friday November 19, beginning at 7pm and it expected to run until midnight.

The night will start welcome drinks and on to the formal dinner.

During the night they will be entertained by a Manuka band, some vocals from Jamie Knight and the night will finish with a disco.

There are over 100 young people and over 30 adults in the group today, it is estimated that between 2,500 and 3,000 scouts have been members since it opened.

Tickets for the finale of our platinum anniversary year are only £30 for friends and family of the 5th and the scout association, book now as individuals, couples or groups of up to 10.
