BUDDING young actors and actresses are being urged to snap up their place at a theatrical summer school in Redditch.

Those taking part in the event at the Palace Youth Theatre will end up putting on the show Sweeney Todd for two performances at the theatre, in Alcester Street.

Summer school is open to people aged eight to 22, who will take part in two weeks of intensive - but fun - rehearsals with professionals.

Liz Tabberer, youth theatre and arts officer, said: "If you're looking for something different to get involved in over the summer, then what could be more exciting than staging a show in just two weeks?

"If you are concerned parents, it's the school edition, so no need to panic."

Rehearsals will run from August 1 to 5 and 8 to 12, from 10am to 4pm - and the two shows will follow on August 13 at 2.30 and 7.30pm.

The school costs £150 per child, with a £75 discount or a sibling.

Places can be booked by contacting the Palace Theatre box office on 01527 65203.
