THIS Volunteers Week (1-12 June) leading pet charity Blue Cross is appealing for enthusiastic volunteers to help out in their shop in Tewkesbury.

Blue Cross shops raise money for the thousands of unwanted, abandoned and sick pets cared for by the charity’s rehoming centres and hospitals every year. They are asking for pet lovers with time to spare to consider joining the team at their Tewkesbury branch.

Suzanne Ashplant, Manager at the Tewkesbury Blue Cross shop, said: “We have a lovely team of volunteers here at the shop and we really couldn’t do what we do without them. Volunteering is a great way of getting involved in our fantastic local community and getting some useful retail experience. And it’s just really rewarding to know that our work supports pets in need.”

Volunteer duties range from sorting and displaying stock to helping customers, serving on the till and helping out with window displays.

Suzanne, added: “If you think you might be able to help on a regular basis, please don’t hesitate to pop into the shop for a chat to find out more. We’d love to have you on our team!”

Blue Cross is a charity with no government funding so relies on sales through shops and donations from generous animal lovers to continue its work. For those who can’t spare time to help in the shop, the charity is also on the lookout for good quality clothing, books or household items to sell.
