THE story of a street in Pershore where residents are having to alter their personal documents because of a spelling error has a further twist in the tale.

An administration error by Wychavon District Council saw 'Westcott Way', a name chosen by Pershore Town Council, temporarily become 'Westcote Way' and registered with the Royal Mail.

But now a further anomaly has arisen over who the street has been named after.

Wychavon District Council said the streets at the new development were all named after former high school headteachers, with Westcott being one of them. Now Pershore Town Council has come forward to explain that, although five of the streets did indeed have former headteacher's names, Westcott Way, which meanders through the estate, was named after a local market gardener who lived at Ford House.
