A COMMUNITY leisure centre is to be ran under a new partnership.

The Lady Hawkins’ Community Leisure Centre in Kington will be ran by Halo Leisure from January.

The leisure centre which is open six days a week is used jointly by Lady Hawkins School and the local community.

Jeffrey Kay, Headteacher at Lady Hawkins’ School, where the leisure centre is based, said that the new partnership between the school, Herefordshire Council and Halo Leisure is the best way forward.

He said: “We have always had an excellent working relationship with the community leisure centre.

“We are confident that this new partnership is the best way to create healthier and more active communities amongst students, teachers and the people of Kington – something really important to the school."

This will be the 10th Halo leisure facilities in the county and their Chief Executive, Scott Rolfe said: “We will continue to support even more local people to participate in some form of exercise, increase the range of activities available to them and invest in the leisure facilities at the centre.

This news comes after Halo Leisure and Herefordshire Council announced last month that they would be spending £2.3 million on refurbishing Ledbury Swimming Pool.
