A £1.5 million investment to replace water pipes in Far Forest is progressing well, with the next part of its work set to begin next Monday (September 7).

Severn Trent Water’s work in Church Lane involves replacing the water pipes, between the junction with Holy Trinity Church to the junction of Cleobury Road. In order to keep everyone safe, Church Lane will be closed for four weeks, before work continues at the junction of Church Lane Cottage and Hedgewick.

Gareth Mead, a spokesman for the water company, said: “We started work back in June to replace the water pipes on Gibbet Bank.

“We are pleased to say that this part of our work is complete and we are moving onto the Church Lane area.

“We know that our work has brought some disruption, so we would like to thank local residents who have shown us nothing but support and patience while we have been laying the new pipes.

“We will do all we can to help minimise disruption and we would like to ask the local community for their patience until the new pipes are in place.

“We will continue to work closely with local businesses to make sure we don’t cause them too much inconvenience.

“Once all of the work is complete, the area will have modern, reliable water pipes that will last for many years. We would like to thank local residents for their understanding and we will be keeping all of the local homes and businesses up to date with what we are doing.”

The latest part of the investment, which started in June, is part of Severn Trent’s year-long works to install more than 13 kilometres of new pipes in and around Far Forest to replace ageing facilities, which were becoming more prone to leaks and bursts.

The company apologised in advance for any disruption caused to motorists and anyone affected by the work.
