A CELEBRATION of biking is taking place in Broadway as part of National Bike week on June 18.

The High Street will be closed to traffic from 6pm to 8pm for various cycling related events and attractions that will make up Broadway Bike Night.

From the mini roundabout at the top to the Snowshill Road turn, there will be barriers and stewards. The main car public parks will be reachable and open for visitors as normal.

In Race A, a relay race consisting of teams of three riders sharing one bike starting from the green will heads up to the Leamington Road mini roundabout and back down the High Street.

Race B is the individual race which is twice up and down the street for those who fancy a sterner test. It is open to anyone just fancying a go as well as athletes.

There will be a children's competition with best dressed/decorated bike for entrants under 12 years old with a prize of £50 from Hampton International for the winner. Bring yourself and your bike dressed up however you want. Someone from TV, or a character in a book. A superhero, or an object. There are no limits.

All participants will get a free ice-cream from Jo and Bo at Icicle Tricycle.

H-Bug (Honeybourne Bicycle Users Group) is organising a short family ride around some of the lesser travelled routes around Broadway for all ages and abilities.

The scenic bike ride will be 1.8 miles, starting on the green opposite The Swan. The route is down to the B4632 turn; turn left along West End; turn left onto Snowshill Road and back to the green.

For those wondering what it is like to ride a tandem there is the change to have a go on a static tandem courtesy of H-Bug.

Triathlete Richard Goode will be there for you to test your power output on his Wattbike. You can also chat to him about his swimming and triathlon coaching.

A prize of a Wattbike training session at Richard's studio will go to the cyclist who produces the highest Watts/ kilo of bodyweight on the evening.

There will also be an historic bike display for people to see what two-wheeled transport was like in days gone by.
