A drug dealer saw his stash float to the surface of a canal he was pushed into by a policeman.

The dealer had bolted when approached by a plain clothes officer in Sainsbury's petrol station, in Oldbury.

The police officer pushed Francis into the canal fearing he would have a gun pulled on him, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.

Thieves have broken into a charity shop in Kidderminster, and stole £400 in cash.

Police are investigating the burglary that happened at a charity shop at Kemp Hospice, in Coventry Street, this morning.

The Halesowen News reports a thug carrying a knife attacked his former partner at the end of their “tempestuous and turbulent” relationship.

Scott Deeley left Jade Goodwins with cuts to her hand and arm and bruising all over her body, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told. Deeley has been jailed for 16 months.

Meanwhile the Bromsgrove Advertiser reports Barnt Green resident and former England footballer Geoff Thomas is being joined by his family on his latest fundraising challenge.

The former Wolves midfielder was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2003 when he was given only three months to live.

To mark the 10th anniversary of entering remission, Geoff is taking part in the London 2 Paris cycling challenge.
