The programme and funding manager of Dhaka Ahsania Mission UK, will be running the summer 10k with Monica Fletcher, chief executive of Education for Health, will be raising money to support the work their charities undertake in Bangladesh.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission’s works with some of the most vulnerable in urban and rural communities across Bangladesh, supporting a number of projects that focus on education, skills training, water and sanitation, the prevention of trafficking and street and working children.

Education for Health have been providing volunteer Education for Health trainers, learning materials, clinical equipment and patient materials to raise levels of care and create a self-perpetuating system of education for doctors, nurses and pharmacists in Bangladesh.

She said: “The biggest challenge for us is that we will both be running in saris.

"This will be to publicise the work of our two charities in Bangladesh and hopefully to encourage people to donate to two very good causes.

“Additionally it will give us an even bigger challenge, bring some colour to the event and remind us of the incredible people of Bangladesh.

“We know it will not be easy but we will be supporting each other every step of the way.”
