A 42-YEAR-OLD man is to stand trial on a charge of manslaughter after a woman died from injuries sustained in a Kidderminster flat fire.
Mark Moat will go before a jury in February next year after denying the manslaughter of Sandra Nowocinska, who died on December 1 in hospital after a fire engulfed her flat in the Horsefair shortly before 10pm on November 27.
Moat, of Wilkins Close, Highley, Bridgnorth, also denies two counts of arson being reckless over whether life is endangered, one of setting fire to a chair on August 23 last year, and one allegedly leading to the devastating fire, which also trapped the 22-year-old victim's five-year-old son who luckily made a full recovery.
The defendant was remanded in custody and a trial date was set for February 1 next year. It is expected to last three weeks.
